Outdoor living
The rooms without ceilings.
A deck used every summer evening returns its build cost in groceries alone. We design outdoor rooms with the same seriousness as indoor ones: circulation, shelter, focus, light.
Elements
Five ways to make outside habitable.
01
Decks
Spotted gum and vitex hardwoods, framed to span without bounce, laid with hidden fixings. Built for bare feet in February.
02
Pergolas & shade
Timber and aluminium structures sized to shadow exactly when and where you want it — the solar maths is free and worth doing.
03
Outdoor kitchens
Weatherproof cabinetry, real bench space, and the grill at the chef's height. The kitchen that makes the indoors jealous.
04
Fire
Fire bowls and courtyards with real clearances — the gathering point that extends the season by three months each side.
05
Garden lighting
Warm, low, layered: paths safe at 2700K, features up-lit, and the switch inside the back door where winter wants it.
06
Pools & surrounds
We build the world around the pool — coping, wet-deck surfaces, privacy and the planting that survives splashed chlorine.
Thinking
Shelter beats furniture.
The most-used outdoor spaces in the Waikato aren't the prettiest — they're the most sheltered. Before we spend your budget on surfaces, we solve wind and rain with levels, structures and planting mass. Everything after that is comfort compounding.
