Construction

The half of the garden you'll never see.

Every beautiful garden stands on boring, brilliant engineering: falls that drain, basecourses that don't subside, retaining that will still be plumb in twenty Waikato winters.

What we build

Structure first.

01

Retaining walls

Schist, basalt and timber-batter walls engineered to the height they hold — with drainage behind them, because water is what moves walls.
02

Levels & earthworks

Cut and fill balanced on site where possible. Terraces that make the slope an asset instead of a battle.
03

Drainage

Swales, coil and aggregate — designed to a real storm, not an average one. The difference between a garden and a swamp is usually 200mm of aggregate.
04

Paving & surfaces

Granite, porcelain and exposed aggregate laid to falls that shed water without you ever noticing the geometry doing it.
05

Fencing & gates

Boundary and feature fencing that frames the garden rather than caging it. Automated gates wired properly the first time.
06

Irrigation

Zoned drip and rotor systems hidden in the planting — watering at dawn, never wastefully, checked quarterly.

Honesty

Where the money goes.

On most residential builds, 60–70% of cost sits in the structural layer — the stuff finished gardens hide. We show that split openly in every quote, because it's the honest explanation of why 'just planting' and 'garden' are different budgets. Full-section transformations typically run NZ$45,000–$160,000; courtyard projects from NZ$18,000.
