Ceramic coating

Chemistry that changes the rules.

Ceramic isn't a wax with marketing. It's a cross-linked SiO₂ layer, bonded to corrected paint at molecular scale — and it changes how water, dirt and time treat your car for years, not weeks.

What it means

Six months vs six years.

Water

It leaves

High contact angle means rain beads and runs, carrying road film with it. Drying after a wash is a microfibre, not a chamois marathon.
Dirt

It doesn't bond

Traffic film, bird lime and tree sap sit on the ceramic rather than etching into clearcoat — provided they're rinsed within days, not weeks.
Chemicals

They're resisted

pH-neutral washes stay the rule, but accidental contamination has a sacrificial layer to attack before your paint.
Gloss

It deepens

The coating optically couples to corrected paint — reflections gain the wet-depth look sealants imitate for a month.

The fine print

What ceramic isn't.

It isn't invulnerable armour, and it isn't a substitute for washing — it's freedom from waxing with dramatically easier cleaning. It also demands corrected paint: sealing swirls preserves them beautifully. Wheels, glass and fabric each get their own formulated system. A body-and-trim application over full correction starts from NZ$1,950.
